When it comes to grooming a Shiba Inu owner has a slight advantage over owners of other breeds. The Shiba Inu is usually a very clean breed that likes to keep itself spotless. With the help of the dog the owner really has very little to do. The owner needs to brush the dogs fur weekly except for when the dog goes through it's seasonal shedding, then one must brush daily. An owner only has to bathe when needed and should brush and clean the dogs teeth and ears regularly. Finally the owner should keep a good eye on the dogs nails, these have to be trimmed a few times a year.
